What makes the Ombudsman unique?
Accessibility :
The Ombudsman welcomes and serves all faculty/staff, graduate and undergraduate students.
Confidentiality :
The information shared with the Ombudsman is kept confidential, unless prior permission is given by the individual to share it. An exception to this policy is made when harm may be done to the person him/herself and/or to another individual.
Independence :
The Ombudsman operates independently from all University departments, and has access to people and information relevant to each case.
Neutrality :
The Ombudsman does not take sides but advocates for a fair process with no personal gain in the outcome of the case.
Informality :
The Ombudsman does not participate in any formal grievance process at the University but can conduct informal investigations.
