I. Call to order

Schwartzstein called the meeting to order at 1:30.

II. Approval of April 2002 minutes

Minutes were approved as written.

III. Announcements

A. Campbell announced that Dee Holisky and Debbie Boehm-Davis have been reelected and will start new 3-year terms on the Council in the Fall.

IV. Old Business

None.

V. New Business

A. CAS courses for approval

  • New courses: EVPP 620, 652, 791, 792, GEOG 791, 792, GEOL 601 - approved.
  • Modified course: PYSC 701 - approved.
  • New concentration: MAIS, Concentration in Community College Teaching -approved.
  • New degree program: Master of Arts in Political Science - approved.

B. CNHS courses for approval

  • New courses: NURS 775, 778 - approved.
  • Modified courses: NURS 773, 776 - approved.

C. GSE courses for approval

  • New courses: EDSE 501, 502, 503, 542, 590, 626, 627, 628, 629, 791, 792 - approved.
  • Modified courses: EDCI 667, 669, 672, 673, EDLE 797, EDSE 534, 540, 622, 661 - approved.
  • New degree concentrations: ASTL master's degree with concentrations in Early Childhood, Literacy, Science, Alternative Education, Instructional Technology, Mathematics, History, and ASTL master's with individualized concentration - approved.
  • Modified degree program: MEd in Special Education - approved.

D. ICAR course for approval

  • New course: CONF 748 - approved

VI. Discussion Items

 

A. Finkelstein noted that recent degree program changes have not been routed through other units for coordination before coming to the Council. The Council decided that all course and program proposals must come to the Council Secretary in time for him/her to give them to the Provost for review before they will be posted. The paperwork package must include a signed coordination form. Any paperwork not received in time to be reviewed and posted 15 days before that month's meeting will be held until the next meeting.
