III. Announcements

Linda Schwartzstein thanked out-going Council members Hugh Sockett and Stephen White for their work on the Graduate Council.

IV. Discussion Items

    A. Official Transcript Evaluations (Daniel Menasce)

Daniel Menasce asked Council members to consider possible changes to the way official transcript evaluations are processed, in an effort to speed up the ability of units to send offer letters of admission to top students. He stated that in the current competitive environment, IT&E is losing international students to schools who either do not ask for official transcript evaluations or have a much faster turnaround time.

After considerable discussion, Council members agreed to ask the Graduate Academic Policies Committee and Daniel Menasce to meet to discuss this issue and come back to the Council in August with a recommendation.
