    Peter Stearns called the meeting to order at 12:01 p.m.

II. Old Business

    Proposals from the Office of the Provost Computational Social Science

      New Program (Action Item): Approved
      Ph.D. in Computational Social Science, Revised

      New Courses (Action Item): Approved
      CSS 605 Object-Oriented modeling in Social Science
      CSS 625 Complexity Theory in the Social Sciences
      CSS 630 Comparative Computational Social Science
      CSS 635 Cognitive Foundations of Computational Social Science
      CSS 640 Human and Social Evolutionary Complexity
      CSS 650 Physics Methods for Analyzing Social Complexity
      CSS 655 Social System Dynamics
      CSS 660 Computational Social Science of Spacefaring Civilization
      CSS 692 Social Network Analysis

    Council members approved the revised program proposal with the understanding among the units involved that (1) each unit will have a member on the steering committee; (2) there will be one high potential GRA; (3) there will be admissions uniformity; and (4) the program is being done jointly between units.
