
The Office of the Provost works with the Center for Teaching Excellence, the Department of Instructional and Technology Support Services (DoIT) , the Library, and academic units to support faculty in their quest for excellence in teaching. Each year a small number of faculty are recognized by the Office of the Provost and Teaching Excellence Alumni for their achievements in teaching. The Office of the Provost works with Deans and Directors to identify teachers of excellence for state, national, and international awards. The University also encourages faculty to apply for outside funding and may offer some additional support for faculty who are awarded grants and contracts in this area.

The Department of Instructional and Technology Support Services (DoIT) supports the teaching and learning mission on campus through a variety of activities. The Instructional Resource Center in Robinson A104 is a drop-in facility where faculty can meet with instructional designers or use computers and software available in the lab there, with support and help from highly trained lab assistants. Schools, institutes, departments and units offer workshops, round tables, and other activities focusing on issues of teaching and learning.
The university maintains close relationships with a number of organizations that work in the areas of teaching and learning: Association of American College & Universities (AAC&U), ACE, the Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL), and others.
