Dr. Hurley worked at the University of Miami as an Internship Coordinator in the University's Early Childhood Special Education program from 1991 until 1993.  He has served as the Undergraduate Academic Advisor in the Department of Psychology at George Mason University since December 1993. Dr. Hurley's research interests are in the academic adjustment of college athletes, and the remediation and retention of academically-deficient college students.
