The Department of Labor Statistics states, "starting salaries for engineers with the bachelor's degree are significantly higher than starting salaries of bachelor's degree graduates in other fields." According to the National Society of Professional Engineers, engineering graduates with a bachelor's degree have an average starting salary of $37,355 in the private sector in 1996, and systems engineers are ranked among the highest paid.
Systems engineering prepares you to be a leader among engineers. The DLS states "Median annual earnings for engineers at senior managerial levels were about $90,000," and systems engineers are educated in project management.
