Biography
The Hon. Delio E. Gianturco is a specialist in international finance, trade development, foreign direct investment, and microeconomics.  His expertise includes foreign economic policy, banking, insurance, credit issues,  risk evaluation and mitigation, management of multinational enterprises, and small business development.  He teaches courses in International Commerce and Policy, including the Introduction to ICP, International Financial Institutions and Globalization, Microeconomics and Trade, Finance and Investment, Project Finance, and Country Risk Analysis.

Mr. Gianturco  is trained as a financial economist and has worked as a Legislative Assistant  for U.S.Congressmen; as Senior vice president, Treasurer/Comptroller, Executive Vice President, Director and Vice Chairman at the Export-Import Bank of the U.S.; Senior Financial Consultant at the World Bank; Governor of the Foreign Credit Insurance Association. As President of First Washington Associates, Ltd., Mr. Gianturco worked on trade policy, finance and development projects in 36 countries of North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. He also served as Director of the FWA Training Institute.

Mr. Gianturco served in the U.S. government during 6 different Administrations and was a Presidential appointee, confirmed by the Senate.  He was a member of the President’s Interagency Committee on Export Expansion and the National Advisory Council on International Monetary and Financial Policy.  Mr. Gianturco was Vice President of the International Union of Export Credit and Investment Insurers in London and a U.S. Delegate to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris.  He has authored and co-authored six books and several hundred research reports, monographs, specialized papers and multi-volume examinations of international financial subjects.  He was an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University before joining George Mason University in 1995, and has been a guest lecturer at other colleges, universities, professional associations, and trade and finance conferences in the U.S. and abroad.

Mr. Gianturco serves as SPP's Faculty/Alumni Liaison Officer. In 2008 Mr. Gianturco was chosen SPP's outstanding teacher of the year by the Alumni Chapter and was given its Distinguished FAculty Award.
