School of Public Policy, Contributing to a Livable World

Michael K. Fauntroy
Distinguished Faculty

Michael Fauntroy, a specialist in urban policy and civil rights, brings a sharply domestic focus to the George Mason School of Public Policy, where he is one of the newest faculty members.

His research into race, urban politics, and public policy has made him a leading authority on subjects such as fair housing, equal education, and voting rights, issues discussed in his book, "Home Rule or House Rule? Congress and the Erosion of Local Governance in the District of Columbia.''

"The School of Public Policy benefits from its proximity to the District of Columbia, which has served as a perfect laboratory for my work and that of my students and colleagues,'' says Fauntroy, a former staff member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and of the Congressional Research Service, where he consulted with lawmakers and their staffs.
