Jonathan Gifford
Director, Transportation Policy, Operations and Logistics
Keeping people moving safely and efficiently in today's highly technical, security-heightened world requires tremendous amounts of careful planning and deft management of resources. The George Mason School of Public Policy offers a master's program that provides students an opportunity to develop a unique skill set that prepares them for leadership positions dealing with road traffic infrastructure, aviation and aerospace management, and other areas in the field.
"Whether it's traffic on the nation's highways or airport runways, we are
dedicated to improving and protecting the critical infrastructures that are the
lifelines to a healthy economy,'' says Jonathan Gifford, director.
The program takes a multidisciplinary approach to a subject traditionally relegated to civil engineering and business schools to give students a potent combination of managerial skills, technical expertise, and policy perspective that is highly valued by today's industry and government leaders. It also operates a research center that prescribes solutions for real-world challenges facing governments at the local, state, and federal levels.
