Master of Public Policy
Curriculum and Program Requirements
(Beginning Fall 2007)
The Master of Public Policy requires
39 or 42 credit hours of coursework,
depending on whether the student has
the requisite professional experience.
All degree candidates complete 27 credit
hours of core coursework and twelve
credit hours of electives that are grouped
into the student's
chosen area of concentration. The complete
curriculum is as follows:
- PUBP 700: Theory and Practice in Public Policy
- PUBP 502: Governance and Policy Processes
- PUBP 503: Culture, Organization, and Technology
- PUBP 704: Statistical Methods in Policy Analysis
- PUBP 720: Managerial Economics
- PUBP 741: U.S. Financial Policy Processes and Procedures
- ITRN
503: Investment and Macroeconomics
- One Course from the following advanced core options (PUBP
705, 711, 712, 713)
- Four
concentration electives
- Internship (This requirement may be waived for those with the requisite professional experience.)
Students can select among 11 substantive policy concentration areas for their elective course work. M.P.P. concentration areas include such topics as National Security and Public Policy; Governance Systems and Policy Management; Culture, Values, and Social Policy; and Global Medical and Health Policy. For a complete listing of concentration areas see the M.P.P. Program Description. Students are strongly encouraged to include study abroad programs in the selection of their electives.
