Clayton Associate Professor of Theater (B.A., Brandeis University; M.F.A., Yale School of Drama) has served as Chair of the Theater Department since 2001, and as Production Manager of the GMU Players since 1999. Professor Austin’s background in the construction and management of scenery includes film, television, commercial photography, summer stock theater (Barnstormers, Cape Cod Melody Tent, Harford Opera Theater) and regional theater (Barter Theater, Trinity Square Repertory Theater, Hartford Stage Company, Berkeley Repertory Theater, and Theater of the First Amendment.) A faculty member at George Mason since 1993, he teaches courses in technical theater, rigging, drafting, and general theater studies.
