My fondest memory of EIP was my first ever musical performance at the end of the summer talent show. It was in Harris Theatre, and the song was named "aint that some stuuuuuuuuuuff!!" stated as emphatically as it is written here, but I truly thank EIP for giving me that platform to open up myself as an artist as I now am pursuing a career in rap and reggae under the alias "D'Liverence." A caterpillar forms a cocoon as a safe place for transforming into a butterfly. As an eighth grader, I was a caterpillar trying to blend with the surrounding foliage (my peers). Being accepted to EIP was a defining moment in my life. EIP was my cocoon, my safe place to be nurtured, empowered, and encouraged.
