Programming Grants

**PROGRAMMING GRANTS AVAILABLE**
University Life Programming Committee (ULPC)

General Information

University Life Programming Grants are awarded to programs which:

  • build community;
  • promote faculty/staff/student interaction;
  • celebrate cultural diversity;
  • use the institution's technology resources;
  • increase collaboration across units within the university;
  • and are coordinated and aligned with the calendar of University Life events.

Because University Life Programming Grants are funded with student fee money, programs with a primary audience of students are given priority.

A sampling of programs that have received funding

  • African Art Collection, Exhibit & Lecture (AFAM & Library Special Collections and Archives)
  • MAICP Job Fair (Career Services & International Commerce and Policy Association)
  • Citizenship 2000 (NCC, CAS, GSE and others)
  • Adult Storytelling performance (English Department and Storytelling Club)
  • "Foundations in Democratic Citizenship" lecture program (Public and International Affairs)
  • "The Cape Split Cycle", visual artist and poet exhibit (MFA, English and Art & Visual Technologies departments)
  • Scott Fried, AIDS Educator (Health Education Services, Hillel and Housing & Residence Life)
  • Adopt-A-Spot (George Mason University FIXIT Committee)
  • Comedienne Wendi Fox (Drug Education Services, Program Board and IFC/Panhellenic Councils)
  • Take Back the Night (Sexual Assault Services and Women's Studies Research and Resource Center)
  • Spirituality and Healing Conference (College of Nursing & Health Science)
  • Writer Piri Thomas (Minority Student Affairs, English and History departments)
  • Guitarist Francesc de Paula Soler (Minority Student Affairs, Department of Modern & Classical Languages, Hispanic Culture Review and Spanish Club)

Requests will be evaluated on the following criteria. These include the degree to which the event creatively fulfills the ULPC mission to

  • Build community
  • Promote faculty/staff/student interaction
  • Celebrate cultural diversity
  • Use the institution's technology resources
  • Increase collaboration across units within the university
  • Coordinate with the calendar of University Life events

Special consideration will be given to programs that complement events currently on the University Life Planning Calendar.
