Communication 145, Newspaper Workshop, Kathryn Mangus

Practical experience in writing, editing, or business aspects of newspaper production at Broadside or other newspapers. May be repeated for three total credits.

Communication 148, Radio Workshop, Rodger Smith

Practical experience in production, news writing, promotions, advertising, public relations, programming, or newscasting for student radio station WGMU. May be taken three times. Prerequisite: 100-level COMM course or permission of instructor.

Communication 157, Video Workshop,
Cynthia Lehman or Anne Outerbridge

Practical experience in learning production basics including camera, video, and lighting. May be taken three times. Students who are enrolled in or have already completed COMM 355 are not eligible for this course.

Communication 345, Newspaper Workshop II, Kathryn Mangus

Practical experience in writing and editing for Broadside or other newspapers. Prerequisite or corequisite: 3 credits of COMM 145, COMM 351, or permission of instructor. May be taken three times.

Communication 346, Yearbook Workshop, Cindy Lont

Practical experience in promotion, marketing, and sales of video yearbook, or practical experience working on Senior Expressions, a print supplement to the video yearbook. May be taken three times.

Communication 348, Radio Workshop II, Rodger Smith

Intense practical application of previously acquired skills in production, news writing, promotions, advertising, public relations, programming, or newscasting for student radio station WGMU. May be taken three times. Prerequisite: COMM 148 or permission of instructor.

Communication 399, Cable TV Programming and Marketing,
Cynthia Lehman

Fundamental concepts and strategies of media programming and marketing. Students produce video in association with George Mason University's student cable channel, and develop and implement marketing plans to promote their programs and the channel.
