University Operations

 

The University Operations Division was created to centralize several departments and to facilitate coordination of activities. John Spaldo, Associate Vice President of University Operations, oversees the Distributed Campuses, Parking & Transportation, Police Department, Safety Office and University Services areas.

One of the main priorities of University Operations is to bring together diverse departments in the early planning stages to coordinate events on campus. This coordination will minimize disruption of services, traffic, and parking and ensure minimal disruption to the campus and surrounding community. Additionally, John has budget authority over these areas to better allocate resources to provide the most beneficial impact on the campus community.

About John:

John has been with George Mason University since 1981 with advanced experience in the areas of Student Unions operations and auxiliary services. In 2004 John was promoted to Assistant Vice President, University Services. In this position John oversaw auxiliary services on campus, including the contracted and in-house departments under it's umbrella. In 2006, John was promoted to Associate Vice President, University Operations and tasked with enhancing the interactions between the departments under his supervision. John is directly involved in several facilities construction/renovation projects and is actively serving as Co-chair, Auxiliary Enterprises Management Council. John participates on the University Process Improvement Council, Quality of Worklife Committee (Presidential Appointment), among other committees.
