SRIF's Activities

Shenandoah River Project - Students using the SRIF lab are studying the concentrations of pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs) and endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in the surface waters in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. Current research sites include the North Fork of the Shenandoah River near Timberville, Virginia and the South Fork of the Shenandoah near Luray, Virginia.

Cedar Run Project - Students are examining the agricultural impact on Cedar Run which is a tributary to the Occoquon River, the source of drinking water for Fairfax County.

Microwave Accelerated Reaction System (MARs) - Students are testing MARs protocol for extracting highly-retained toxic chemicals on the sediments from the Anacostia River in Maryland.
