![]() SRIF's Atomic Absorption Spectrometer This instrument is located in the Department of Chemistry instrumental lab in Science & Tech I. special permission of both the SRIF lab manager and the Chemistry Department is required to use this instrument independently. Instrument Uses The Perkin Elmer 5100PC atomic absorption spectrometer is used to detect the presence of elemental metals in liquid samples or sample extracts. The instrument has two modes of operation: flame ionization and graphite furnace ionization. The uses of this instrument are very diverse. It is used in environmental analysis, forensics, metalurgy and following applications are examples of possible uses for this instrument:
