DESCRIPTION

The University of Reading is set on 300 acres of landscaped parkland, known as Whiteknights. Whiteknights is a former medieval estate and the landscaping and exotic trees date from the late 18th Century. The university is an important research center and courses are available in nearly all disciplines. The university is one of the top 20 research centers in the UK. The campus has a very active student population- at the Student Union you have a cup or coffee, plan you next weekend trip or work out. There are also many clubs and societies you can join, including an organization run by returned exchange students that organizes social and cultural actives for study abroad students.

When you arrive at Reading an arrival orientation, hosted by the Study Abroad Office will introduce you to university life. You will also get to meet other international students and settle in to your accommodation.

Reading, only a 20 minute train ride from London, is a busy commerce center and offers students entertainment, great shopping and beautiful views of the Thames. The UK has an extensive public transportation system and you will find that you can travel quite easily to other parts of the country from Reading.

The direct exchange at the University of Reading offers Mason students an incredible opportunity to experience British live at bargain prices.

The British Council offers information about studying and living in Britain on their easy to navigate website- check it out for lots of up to date info.
