DESCRIPTION
APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL JANUARY 7, 2008
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FOLLOWING ITINERARY IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Join us for an exciting Spring Break tour to two of
Central Europe's greatest cities--Prague and Dresden!
On this week-long tour, you will split your time between these amazing cities.
In Prague, your week will start off with a tour of the historic Prague Castle,
and then the tour will wind its way down to the beautiful Charles Bridge. The
next morning you will visit the Jewish Quarter of Prague, one of the most
important sites of Jewish history in Europe. Your evenings will include
classical music at some of the best venues in Europe and during the free time,
you can visit such sites as the Museum of Communism, pubs that have been in
continuous operation for more than 500 years, some of Europe's best art
galleries, or perhaps the famous Dancing House along the Vltava River.
The visit to Dresden will include stops at the Zwinger and the Albertinum
museums, the Altmarkt (Old Market) and the Frauenkirche, once one of
Europe's greatest cathedrals, now being reconstructed after it's bombing in
World War II. You will also be able to sample the city's cuisine in quaint
restaurants along the river, and attend the Semperoper (Semper Opera House), a High Renaissance style
opera house.
In both cities, we will pay special attention to the events of November
and December 1989 when the peoples of these two cities helped to
bring down their local Communist regimes with massive and
peaceful street protests. Walking tours will stop in the main locations
of the protests of 1989 as we retrace the steps of those who helped
bring the Cold War to an end.
