Intensive Spanish in Guanajuato

DESCRIPTION

This intensive Spanish language program for intermediate or advanced students takes place at the Language School at the University of Guanajuato in the historic city of Guanajuato, Mexico, located 230 miles northwest of Mexico City at an elevation of 6550 feet above sea level. Students will have the opportunity to live and eat with a Mexican family and totally immerse themselves in the culture. All the Spanish language classes will be held in the morning for four or five hours. The weekends are set aside for field study trips to places of historic and cultural interest. The language program will be complemented by lectures on Mexican history and culture.

3 undergraduate credits in Spanish: SPAN 202, 210, 324 or 480 (no beginning level offered). Students must have successfully completed SPAN 102, 105, 110 .

ELIGIBILITY

The program is open to George Mason University and non-Mason students, staff, faculty, and alumni, as well as to the general public. To obtain credit, you need at least a 2.25 GPA.

Deadline: October 5, 2007

Participants who submit a completed application (Center for Global Education - Mason Abroad application and all required application materials) by September 14, 2007 will receive a $100 discount off the program fee.
