HOW TO APPLY

Direct Exchange Application Procedures

Please note that direct exchange programs are open to Mason students ONLY.

UPON ACCEPTANCE
CANCELATION POLICY


TO APPLY

1. Consult with a Center for Global Education Program Officer to determine the application procedures for your specific semester/year program.

2. Consult with your academic advisor. Make sure that the credits offered for the program will fit into your academic program.

3. Obtain a cost breakdown from Center for Global Education. Take the cost breakdown to the Financial Aid Office at your home university to determine your eligibility. (This step applies to students seeking financial aid only.)

Submit your application materials by the deadline for your specific program to Center for Global Education. Your application package must include:

  • Completed online application
  • $100 non-refundable application fee payable online by Visa or Mastercard.
  • A current academic transcript
  • One photocopy of the photo page of your passport (black and white copies are acceptable). If you do not currently have a passport your application will still be considered. Please apply for a passport immediately and inform your Program Officer. Each student is responsible for obtaining his/her passport. If you do not get a passport before the departure of the program, you risk not being able to participate on the program.
  • Two letters of recommendation from recent professors
  • Two passport-size photographs
  • One-page typed biographical essay and statement of academic objectives while abroad

UPON ACCEPTANCE

1. Pick up a Financial Aid Profile Sheet and cost breakdown from Center for Global Education, submit them to the Mason Financial Aid Office for completion, and return the completed Profile Sheet to Center for Global Education.
(This only to Mason students using financial aid.)

2. Attend mandatory pre-departure orientation meeting.

CANCELATION POLICY

Participants canceling out of the program will be refunded the total amount minus the $1,000 deposit up to 30 days before departure. Participants canceling less than 30 days before the program or during the program will not be refunded any portion of the program fee. If Center for Global Education cancels the program for any reason, participants will be refunded the amount paid. For payment questions, please contact Joanne Cabe or call (703) 993-4048.
