International students can spend an exciting semester or year studying at George Mason University near the capital city of the U.S. If you study at one of our partner institution, listed below, you can study abroad at George Mason. Fall Semester 2008: August 25 - December 17, 2008 Located just outside of Washington, DC, the capital city of the United States, George Mason University is an innovative and entrepreneurial institution with a growing and diverse student body and exceptional faculty of enterprising scholars. Mason is a fairly young school, given full degree granting powers from the state of Virginia in 1966. Since then, the university has grown rapidly to its current population of nearly 30,000 students. The university has 3 campuses; however, study abroad students will live and learn on the Fairfax Campus. The campus houses some of the most innovative college buildings in the U.S. and has an Aquatic and Fitness Center, several dining facilities and numerous programs and activities for students during the year. Your semester or year will begin with an orientation program hosted by the Office of International Programs and Services. During the orientation you will be introduced to campus life and academics at the university. During the semester you will take courses and can participate in any of the many clubs and recreational sports teams on campus.
