Dr. Ling, Associate Professor, George Mason University, School of Management

The 2-week business program offers participants the opportunity to fulfill their Global Understanding requirement abroad as they explore the intersection of management, finance, and culture in China.
This program is also a great way to globalize a resume by gaining access to some Chinese perspectives on global business. While on this 2-week program, students will have professional site visits to numerous Chinese and multi-national organizations.

Academic Director

Dr. Ling is Associate Professor in George Mason University’s School of Management. She obtained her Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut and received her undergraduate degree from Central University of Finance & Economics in China. Dr. Ling teaches courses in strategic management and entrepreneurship at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Her primary research focuses on top management issues as they pertain to small, privately-held firms, including family businesses and new ventures. She is interested in how the top-level management of small, privately-held firms is different from that of large, publicly-held organizations. Her research has been published in top journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Business Research, and the Journal of Organizational Behaviors, among others.
You should plan to leave the United States at least one day prior to the program start date to arrive in Beijing for the first day of the program. You can schedule your return to the United States from Beijing for the last day of the program or choose to travel independently.
Do not purchase international airfare until you are advised by your Program Officer.

AASCU Scholarship for Summer Study in China
One Mason student is eligible for a $1500 scholarship to study in China this summer. Students should have academic merit, show economic need and be willing to share their travel and learning experience with AASCU. George Mason students can click here to download the CGE Global Perspectives scholarship application. Mason students may also use financial aid to cover a program's cost. Discuss this with your financial aid counselor early in your study abroad planning process. If you are not a George Mason University student, check with your study abroad office or office of financial aid to learn more about how to cover the cost of your study abroad.
