Eligibility
This program is open to all George Mason University students with a 2.5 overall GPA.
Credits
6 semester transfer credits are offered in a variety of disciplines in which to choose from.

Study abroad at the American University of Rome this summer!
Rome, Italy, aka The Eternal City, offers something for everyone. Whether it's perusing clothes at the Porta Portese market on a Sunday morning, taking a walking tour of the famous Colosseum, or simply pausing for a mind-blowing view of the city from the Spanish Steps, there will be plenty for you to enjoy while you study in Rome and earn credit toward your degree!

Earn 6 transfer credits per session by CHOOSING TWO classes from those offered by the American University of Rome. Potential course offerings include courses in:
Art History, Cinema, Classics, Communications, Drawing, Economics, English, History, Italian language, Management, Marketing, Painting, Political Science
Courses take advantage of location with expert international faculty holding classes throughout the city, guiding students through the wonders of Rome. Imagine learning to sketch in front of the Trevi Fountain. Or exploring the ethical dilemmas in trying to preserve the archeological layers of Roman history while addressing the needs of economic development. Program participants should take into consideration for cost of entry fees when scheduling their courses. Books are not included in the program fee.

The optional weekend excursions offered by the American University of Rome to the Naples/Pompeii area and the Tuscany region offer students the opportunity to see some of the beautiful Italian landscape and a variety of Italian life. Apply early to guarantee your spot.

You should plan to leave the United States at least one day prior to the program start date to arrive in Rome for the first day of the program. You can schedule your return to the United States from Rome for the last day of the program or choose to travel independently.
Do not purchase international airfare until you are advised by your Program Officer.
Program Fee
$5,550 per sessionThe Center for Global Education Program Fee includes:
- Tuition
- Housing in shared apartments with TV, computer, wireless internet, and kitchens with utensils for cooking and dining in
- Pre-departure and on-site orientation
- Emergency medical insurance, including medical evacuation and repatriation
Scholarships are available to George Mason students. George Mason students can click here to download the CGE Global Perspectives scholarship application. Mason students may also use financial aid to cover a program's cost. Discuss this with your financial aid counselor early in your study abroad planning process. If you are not a George Mason University student, check with your study abroad office or office of financial aid to learn more about how to cover the cost of your study abroad.
