Nine Week Program
June 1 - July 30, 2008

DESCRIPTION
This internship program offers a unique and life changing opportunity for those wishing to obtain hands-on knowledge through working in Israel and Palestine . Students will apply their skills and passion and participate in day-to day activities that will acquaint them with the intricacies of life in Israel and Palestine.

This intensive nine week program will begin with a week-long seminar where, leading Israeli and Palestinian experts; representative from various Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), think tanks, peace activists, businesses and government officials will address the group and share their perspectives on the dynamics of Israeli-Palestinian relations. In particular, emphasis will be placed on the interplay of politics and conflict resolution.

For the remaining eight weeks, students will work for four/five days per week -- eight hours a day in either an Israeli or a Palestinian organization near Jerusalem or Haifa. Their internship work will be related to conflict resolution, or international finance/business in Israel and Palestine and students will receive six credits. The program will conclude with a weekend trip to Petra, Jordan.

The course will contain an academic component as well as an internship component to the work.

Housing
Students will stay in hotels or apartments throughout their Eight week internship program.

ELIGIBILITY
The program is open to George Mason University and non-Mason students of all levels, staff, faculty, and alumni, as well as the general public. To obtain credit, you need at least an overall cumulative 2.25 GPA.

In addition all applicants must submit:

CGE will do our best to place students in their preferred internship placemen,t but we cannot guarentee that a student will be able to intern at a particular organization.


COST
Program Fee: $6,895 ($6,945 for non Mason students) (minimim 15 participants)

Financial aid may apply. Center for Global Education - Mason Abroad Scholarships are available.

Center for Global Education reserves the right to make any necessary changes including adjustments in cost in the event that unforeseen circumstances arise.

Students wishing to make their own international airfare arrangements may do so, and CGE will subtract the cost of the international airfare from the program fee. If you are interested in doing this, please contact Sarah Mournighan, and let her know your arrangements.

Center for Global Education - Mason Abroad reserves the right to make any necessary changes including adjustments in cost in the event that unforeseen circumstances arise. CGE reserves the right to raise its program fees in light of currency fluctuations or any other unforeseen circumstances.

The $1,500 deposit is due within one week of the date the student submit's their application. If for some reason a student is not accepted into the program after having paid the deposit, the deposit will be refunded 100%
