Advanced Education Nursing Traineeship for PhD Students
Academic Year 2008/2009

Purpose:

The Advanced Education Nursing Traineeship for PhD Students is designed to recognize outstanding students in our program and support their academic progress.

Award:

For Academic Year 2008/2009, each PhD Traineeship award will be $3,000 - $5,000.

Criteria for Grant Qualification:

  1. Enrolled full-time in the doctoral program;*
  2. Maintain satisfactory academic standing;
  3. Not be receiving any other federal or private organization education award for tuition or stipend (Note:  G.I. Bill and Federal loans excepted)
  4. Not be receiving tuition assistance from funded grants.
  5. Be a citizen of the United States.

Application Process:

To apply for the PhD Traineeship Award, students complete the following steps:

  1. Download and complete the application (pdf)
  2. Write an Academic Goals Statement (approximately one page, single spaced) to succinctly describe their goals for the current year of study;
  3. E-mail or hand carry the completed application and Academic Goals Statement by September 12, 2008 to:

*“Graduate students are considered full time if they are enrolled in at least 9 credits per semester, or if they hold a full time assistantship (20 hours a week) and are enrolled in at least 6 credits per semester.  Graduate students who are enrolled in dissertation credits (either 998 or 999) are considered full time if they are enrolled in at least 6 credits per semester, regardless of whether they hold an assistantship.  Graduate students who have completed the minimum number of credits required by their degree program, including the minimum number of credits of 999 required by their degree program, are considered full time if they are registered for at least 1 credit of 999, and their advisors and department chairs certify each semester that they are working full time on the dissertation.”
