The Dance Audition Process
There are three steps to becoming a dance major at George Mason:
- You must apply to the university.
University Undergraduate Admissions Application - Available after July 1
Priority deadline for university scholarship consideration – December 1 Undergraduate (freshman) deadline – January 15
Transfer application deadline – April 1 - You must audition for the School of Dance.
Audition Application Form will become available on July 1, 2012 - You must submit a 2 minute video of a solo performance.
The video, which is submitted at the time of audition, should show evidence of the candidate’s strong performance quality, musicality and technique.
Applicants will be mailed audition results within two weeks following their audition. Responses will be: accept; waitlist; or, deny. Applicants may audition only once during an academic year. The status of applicants placed on the program’s waitlist will be reviewed after April 1st.
Audition Dates and Application Deadlines
Your application to the university must be on file prior to your audition.
To be considered for a 2012 Dance Talent Scholarship, applicants must audition in November, January, or February.

Although we believe that applicants present themselves most effectively in person, applicants who live beyond a 500 mile radius of George Mason University may request a video audition. Contact the School of Dance Office for further information about this option.
Audition Day Schedule
| 12:30 p.m. | Sign-in, welcome videos, conversations with majors and introduction to faculty. |

Audition Coffee and information session for parents with university financial aid and admissions representatives. |

Refreshments for dancers Question & Answer period for applicants and parents with the director. |
