 LUIS TORRES ORTIZ, of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, is in his nineth season with The Washington Ballet. Prior to joining TWB, Mr. Torres was a soloist and principal with Ballet Arizona, where he danced with the company for six seasons after performing as a soloist with Ballet Theatre of Annapolis in Maryland. During this time, Mr. Torres performed in both classical and contemporary ballets. In addition, roles have been created for him by a number of choreographers including Moses Pendleton, Ib Anderson, Dwight Rhoden and Alonzo King. Mr. Torres completed his bachelor's degree of interdisciplinary studies in dance and psychology at Arizona State University graduating summa cum laude.
