Giving Opportunities - Students
Scholarships impact students in a wide variety of ways. Read more about some of Mason's scholarship recipients below, or view the archives.
Mike Pollack
Mike Pollock, a Warrenton, Virginia, resident, is a junior in information systems management who wanted to find a college that was both close to home and highly respected. For him, Mason was a perfect fit.
Pollock committed himself to paying for his education without family support, working close to 40 hours a week to cover living expenses, and relying on his scholarship from the Mason General Scholarship Fund to help with tuition.
“The scholarship money that I have received has only made this experience more enjoyable and less stressful,” said Pollock. “It has made me feel like my hard work has been recognized.”
Planning to graduate in the next school year, Pollock hopes to work in the business field, using skills he learned in classes like finance and management information systems.
“Scholarship money really does make a difference in a student's life,” said Pollock. “I hope [donors] who are committed to helping students like me understand how much their contribution helps us succeed.”
About the Scholarship
The General Scholarship Fund is supported by gifts of all amounts from generous alumni, parents, faculty and staff, students, and friends. These scholarships provide vital financial support for many Mason students.
