American Landscape: William Noland, multimedia installation

William Noland is a sculptor, photographer and video artist, and a professor at Duke University. His multimedia installation American Landscape features a 19-minute "video painting," a collaboration with composer Scott Lindroth, complemented by digital prints created from frames of the video. The piece grew from Noland and Lindroth's work on a theatrical production based on Don DeLillo's novel Mao II, adapted by Jody McAuliffe, who directed with Derek Goldman, at Duke in 2002.

Noland's photography has appeared in DoubleTake magazine and in the book Entrevistas Cubanas: Historias de una Nación Dividida (McFarland and Co., 2003). He has exhibited widely across the United States, and in Canada and Uruguay. He received a Fulbright Scholar Award for his photography, and an NEA Visual Artist's Fellowship for his sculpture.
