Washington D. C. artist, Michael B. Platt is a visual storyteller.
A magician with common art materials—charcoal, pencil, paint
and ink, and more recently the computer—his work both celebrates
and challenges the human condition creating powerful and thought
provoking images. The figure is his subject and his keen sense of
observation, coupled with strong personal concerns, presents the
viewer with images filled with pain and anger, with joy and hope,
with redemption and concerns for changes to make. Platt’s
work speaks of social and economic injustice, and of lessons to
learn. He is a visual historian whose insights into the past, the
present and the future leave us pondering the veracity of the past
and the power to change the future.
