MEMO-Part 2: Migration Preparation

The following items outline steps you should take to get your Mason/OSF1 account prepared for migration to the MEMO system. You should began preparing your Mason/OSF1 account now. The sooner you begin preparing your account, the less you will have to do when the time to migrate arrives.

Clean-up - You should delete un-necessary e-mail messages.

Move Folders - If you have folders that you want to migrate to your MEMO account they need to be located under the Mason/OSF1 superfolder called Mail. If you use PINE any folders you created in PINE are placed under this folder by default. If you use an e-mail client such as Netscape Messenger, Eudora, or the MS Outlook products in IMAP mode, your folders may not be located under the Mail folder. In these cases you will need to move your folders under the Mail folder or the migration utility will not migrate them.

Cleaning up address books - You should go through your address books and remove outdated addresses. A utility, pine2ldif, is provided on the Mason/OSF1 system that will allow you to convert your PINE addressbooks to a format that Netscape Messenger will recognize.

List-Serves - Un-subscribe from any list-serves that you subscribed to using your Mason/OSF1 account. You will need to re-subscribe to these list from your MEMO account.
