MEMO-Part 3 - MEMO Account Setup
When your MEMO account has been established your the Technical Coordinator for your department will contact you to let you know that your account is available for you to access. Once have been notified that the account is available you should begin using it as soon as possible as all new email will go directly to your MEMO account. The following steps should be taken to help ensure a smooth transition to your MEMO account. Use the Online Accounts system - You should use the Online Accounts system https://maria.gmu.edu/e-mail at this time to get your password for your MEMO account. This system requires that you know your GMU PIN. Your userid will remain the same. DO NOT PROCEED to any of the following steps until you have SUCCESSFULLYaccessed your MEMO account. Your email address will remain youruserid@gmu.edu example: tuser@gmu.edu *In the advent that you do not have access to your PIN your Technical Coordinatormay be able to provide you with a password to get into the MEMO system. You should also review "What is my PIN?" under the Getting Answers link. Un-subscribe to listserves - You should unsubscribe from any lists that you subscribed to using your Mason/OSF1 account and re-subscribe to them using your MEMO account. Because of the way listserves work, if you do not un-subscribe them from your Mason/OSF1 and re-subscribe to them from your MEMO account, you may no longer be able to participate in them after you migrate to the MEMO system; eventhough you may still receive messages from them. Also if you are the owner of any non GMU lists you should contact the list manager of those lists and request that your owner address be changed to youruserid@gmu.edu. If you own a GMU managed list you may request that your owner record for your list be updated by sending an email including the names of the list that you own to listmgr@gmu.edu. Export and Import Address Books - At this point you should have cleaned up your address book of out-dated addresses. If you haven't already you will want to run the pine2ldif utility on Mason/OSF1 to convert your PINE addressbooks into a format that Netscape Messenger can understand. For further instructions please see Converting PINE Address Books to Netscape Format.
