What is my PIN?

HR (Human Resources) issues all GMU Faculty/Staff Employees a PIN number when they begin their employment with the University. Once your MEMO account has been created you will need to use your PIN to activate the account and gain access to it for the first time. In the future you may also use your PIN to reset your MEMO account password. If you are a new employee your PIN is normally printed on your first paystub. Recently HR has been printing the PIN in the message field of all faculty/staff paystubs. If you do not know your PIN the ITU Support Center can reset it for you. Keep in mind that it normally takes from 24 -48 hours for a reset PIN to become active.

Who is my department's Technical Coordinator

Technical Coordinator's have been established to assist the members of their departments with the migration process. In many cases they have had earlier access to the software in order to familiarize themself with it and better be able to assist others in the department. They have also been trained in many of the basics of the new system. You should use them as a first level resource as they may already know the answers to some or most of your early questions. For your convenience a listing of the assigned Technical Coordinator's for each department is available online. If you do not see a Technical Coordinator listed for your department you may contact the ITU Support Center for assistance.

When is my department scheduled to migrate?

Under the Faculty/Staff Migration Page you can use the Project Plan link to see where we are in the migration schedule. This schedule will show departments that we have completed, departments that are currently in progress, and departments that are coming up for migration within the next month. ITU will work with each department's Technical Coordinator to actually set the time frame for the departments migration and to set the time when the accounts will be created. If you do not see your department on the schedule you should contact your department's Technical Coordinator to get details on when your department will be migrating.

What is the migration process?
The migration process for your department starts when your Technical Coordinator is contacted by ITU to supply us with the names and userids of the members of their department as well as which email system each individual uses. After gathering this data ITU works with the department's Technical Coordinator to decide the date that the MEMO accounts will be created Once your account has been created your Technical Coordinator will contact you to let you know that your account has been established and provide you with information on how to access your new MEMO account. At that time it is pertinent that you access your account as soon as possible as once the account is created it is an able to receive email and if you do not start checking it for mail you could miss important messages.
The email migration portion of the migration process copies your mail from your Mason/OSF1 account to your MEMO account. The actual migration process for Mason/OSF1users is done by the client. During this process no mail is lost as it is not deleted from your Mason/OSF1account . This process will preserve the read/unread statuses of your messages, however no other statuses will be maintained. The process will also move folders and their subsequent messages to the new MEMO system provided they are located under the Mason/OSF1superfolder Mail. (If you are using PINE your folders are stored beneath the Mail folder by default) If your folders do not exist underneath the Mail folder already they will need to be moved there before running the migration utility or they will not be migrated. The Trash folder will not be migrated. If you have items in the Trash that you want to keep you should create a new folder for them beneath the Mason/OSF1 superfolder Mail and move the items from Trash that you want to keep into this new folder.
