The Potomac Arts Academy has in place standard policies and procedures that are intented to maintain the integrity of the organization and safeguard all staff, faculty and participants. Please read the following list carefully.
Policies and Procedures 2009 - 2010
Registration
Registration will be filled on a first‐come/first serve basis.
Non‐Discrimination Policy
The Potomac Arts Academy is committed to providing equal opportunity and an educational and work environment free from any discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or age. The Potomac Arts Academy shall adhere to all applicable state and federal equal opportunity/affirmative action statutes and regulations.
Absences
Please contact your instructor if you need to miss a class/lesson. Make‐ups will only be scheduled when the class/lesson has been cancelled by the Public School weather announcements, the Potomac Arts Academy or by the instructor with prior notice. Potomac Arts Academy is not required to make up classes/lessons due to illness or non‐attendance.
Cancellation
The Potomac Arts Academy reserves the right to cancel any class that does not meet sufficient enrollment. A full refund will be given in this event.
Withdrawal/Refunds
The $50 Registration Fee is non-refundable. Request for refunds must be made in writing to The Potomac Arts Academy. The refund schedule is as follows:
before the first scheduled class: 100%
before the second scheduled class: 75%
before the third scheduled class: 50%
Refunds will not be given after the third scheduled class. Percentages reflect the balance after the $50 fee has been deducted.
Return Check Policy
A $35 service fee will be charged for all returned checks.
Refund Payments
Refund checks will be issued through the Office of Accounts Payable at George Mason University. Refunds are processed within 30 days of notification.
School Closings and Inclement Weather Policy
Potomac Arts Academy classes will be cancelled according to the public schools schedule. Please go to your school, radio or television broadcasts for updates. Classes cancelled by to this policy will be rescheduled according to facility and instructor availability.
Photo Release Policy
The Potomac Arts Academy reserves the right to use photographs taken of students during classes or performances for use in Potomac Arts Academy publications. If you or your child does not wish to grant this permission please check the appropriate box at the bottom of the registration form.
Respect for Facilities
Please be advised that as part of our partnership with area churches, we assure that all parents, students and faculty will treat the facility with respect and act accordingly.
Student Safety
Please help us ensure your child’s safety by making sure that they are supervised during the delivery and pick up before and after classes. The Potomac Arts Academy is not responsible for the supervision of your child outside of class. Your cooperation is essential.
Dismissal
The Potomac Arts Academy reserves the right to dismiss any student due to non‐payment of tuition, disciplinary problems or excessive absences.
