90+ Credits
Are you a new Transfer Student? If so, here are some tips to assist with your transfer transition. With 90 or more credits, you have reached senior status and graduation is on the horizon. In addition to finalizing your coursework required for graduation, you will need to consider what happens after commencement. Are you prepared to enter the workforce? Are you interested in applying to graduate school? It is important for you use this time wisely in order to make the necessary preparations for your next journey. Consider the following steps:
First Semester (90-105 credits)
- Make a final review of your academic record. Carefully review your requirements to ensure you will complete all the courses needed to fulfill your degree program.
- Schedule an appointment with your advisor. Your advisor can offer valuable information on preparing for the workforce or graduate school. You might also consider asking your advisor to serve as a reference or to write a recommendation letter on your behalf.
- If you have not already met with a Career Counselor in Career Services(SUB I, rm 348), schedule an appointment as soon as possible to assist with your job search.
- Consider registering for UNIV 400. This course is designed to assist with your transition to the workforce or graduate school.
- File your intent to graduate on time! Visit the Registrar’s website for detailed information.
Second Semester 105 or more credits
At this level, you should continue to follow the suggestions for the first semester (90-105 credits), as well as incorporate the following:
- Review your status in PatriotWeb to make certain that you do not have any holds. Account balances, library fines, and parking, are a few examples of holds that can prohibit registration and the release of your transcript.
- Continue to utilize Career Services to assist with your transition to the job market.
- Contact the Alumni Affairs Office(JC, rm 122). Staying involved with Mason after graduation is extremely important!
