Joan Mizrahi

Psychological
Services

Dr. Joan Mizrahi earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at George Mason University in 2003. Originally from Texas, she completed undergraduate and doctoral degrees in music and worked as a pianist and music teacher before beginning a second career in the field of psychology. Dr. Mizrahi is a Virginia licensed clinical psychologist.

Dr. Mizrahi strives to create a warm and supportive environment in which clients can safely share their concerns. She uses both cognitive-behavioral and more insight-oriented approaches to help reduce distress, improve coping, and promote personal growth. She also makes use of expressive-arts therapies when appropriate.

Dr. Mizrahi’s areas of clinical interest include body image concerns and eating disorders, anxiety, and depression. She is also interested in relationship and family issues and self development throughout the life-span. She has a special interest in the relationship between self-expression and creativity and emotional well-being.

Joan continues to enjoy listening to and performing music during her leisure hours.
