Bridge Project Summer Institute for Freshmen

Each year, the George Mason Office of Admissions conditionally admits approximately 10-20 non-native English-speaking freshmen who have strong academic records from Virginia high schools but limited English skills. These students are required to attend the Bridge Project Summer Institute, an intensive 5-week program that focuses on developing the reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills needed for academic study at a university. The Institute also familiarizes students with the culture of the university and introduces them to the campus and the services available to them, especially computer labs and the Writing Center.

Students are selected for the program from among freshmen applicants. In the Summer of 2012, the Institute will be held Monday, June 25, through Friday, July 27, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
