University Life Weekly Highlights – week ending 8-15-08

Alcohol, Drug & Health Education

• OADHE and the rest of University Life said a final farewell to Susan Stahley. Susan's new life adventure includes a move to North Carolina.
• Danielle Lapierre facilitated RA training with Becky Patt from the Office of Judicial Affairs. Topics covered include policies, Alcohol and College, and the Effects of Alcohol.
• Danielle and Megan Shull are getting ready for Breastival 2008, which is scheduled to take place on October 8th on the North Plaza. As part of Breast Cancer Awareness month, OADHE is bringing free mammograms to campus on October 22nd. More details to follow.

Counseling Psychological Services

• Dean of Students Pam Patterson, Assistant Chief of Police George Ginovsky, and CAPS Director Jeff Pollard presented Mason’s system for processing Students of Concern at the Governor’s Campus Preparedness Conference in Richmond. Jeff spoke about threat assessment in the university environment.
• On August 4th, Dr. Marlena Wu and Justin Massey of Counseling and Psychological Services presented a stress management workshop to high school students enrolled in the Aspiring Scientists Program at Prince William Campus.
