University Development

With strong support from the community, the Campaign for Mason Students raised more than $12 million.

The Campaign's true triumph comes from the students who are thriving at Mason because of private support.

When the Campaign for Mason Students began in 2004, the goal was to raise at least $8 million in endowment and current use funds to:

  • increase the number of merit- and need-based scholarships;
  • create additional opportunities for student–faculty collaborative research;
  • enhance University Libraries’ collections;
  • strengthen the Honors and study abroad programs; and
  • expand outreach services.

Campaign funds helped Mason to:

  • increase its endowment by $7 million;
  • raise nearly $500,000 for university libraries and more than $300,000 for university life programs; and
  • establish new endowed scholarships in all the university's schools and colleges.

Mason Foundation trustee Jimmy Hazel, JD '84, and university Provost Peter Stearns served as co-chairs of the campaign committee.

While the Campaign for Mason Students ended on June 30, Patriot scholars still need your support. Contact us for more information about ways to make a difference for Mason's students or make a gift or pledge now. Remember that naming opportunities are also available.
