SALARY INFORMATION
DEFERRED PAYROLL OPTION (12 MONTH PAY PROGRAM)
During the summer months, faculty on 9-month appointments may
be paid for summer
school teaching and administrative duties and/or non
summer school University summer activities.
Salary paid during the
summer is not part of the academic year salary nor are benefits authorized
for summer employment. Summer Term teaching and administrative support
payments are processed
through the Summer Term Office. All other
administrative, contract course teaching, and research
duties require
submission of a Temporary Faculty Action Form to the Human Resource
Department.
Summer school normally consists of four sessions.
University faculty who teach during summer
school are paid based on a
percentage of their previous academic year salary. Those who perform
administrative duties are paid a stipend for serving as acting chair.
Faculty who teach and/or
perform administrative duties may be paid no
more than .2564 (10/39ths) percent of their prior
academic year salary
for all summer work. Non-University faculty who are hired to teach during
the summer are paid according to a salary matrix developed by the
University.
University faculty who perform research and other
activities not associated with summer school
are paid according to the
terms of their summer contracts. Faculty who engage in summer research
only, or a combination of teaching and/or administrative duties and
research, may be paid no
more than .3333 (13/39ths) percent of their
prior academic year salary for all summer work.
Full and part-time faculty who teach credit courses in excess of their regular teaching load - evening, off campus and other contractual courses - are paid based on a salary matrix that establishes salary ranges. Part-time faculty in highly competitive areas of instruction may be paid above matrix rates as an exception to policy. Exceptions are considered on an individual basis and take into consideration prevailing pay rates in the job market.
Department chairs on 9-month appointments receive an additional stipend to their base salary for serving as either acting chairs or fully-appointed chairs during the academic year. Reduced stipends are paid to chairs serving during summer session employment, which is optional. Stipends awarded to chairs are as follows:
| PROGRAM TYPE | ACADEMIC YEAR | SUMMER SESSION |
| Departments with Doctoral Programs | $4,000 | $1,500 |
| Departments with Masters Programs | $4,000 | $1,250 |
| Departments with Bachelors Programs | $4,000 | $1,000 |
