The
Buchanan House serves as a library and a focal point for research in constitutional
economics. It also houses the memorabilia, books, and papers of James
M. Buchanan. The Buchanan House librarian is Jo Ann Burgess. Also residing
at the Buchanan House are Professors James M. Buchanan, Mrs. Betty Tillman,
Dr. Yong J. Yoon, and senior visitors to the Center.
Collected Works
of James M. Buchanan: We are extremely pleased to announce that we
have entered into an agreement with Liberty Fund Press to edit and publish
a series of some eighteen volumes of the collected works of James M. Buchanan.
These will include ten volumes of previously published books, including
Public Principles of Public Debt, The Calculus of Consent,
and The Limits of Liberty, to name a few. There are also eight
projected volumes of papers published in journals and elsewhere covering
such topics as Public Finance, Public Expenditure Theory/Welfare Economics,
Public Choice, and Philosophy. Preliminary selection of these papers has
been completed. Volume one, The Logical Foundations of Constitutional
Liberty, will be submitted to Liberty Fund Press in 1998.
Personnel on this
project include the Editorial Board comprised of Geoffrey Brennan, Research
Professor, Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University;
Robert Tollison, Robert Hearin Professor of Economics, University of Mississippi;
and Hartmut Kliemt, Professor of Philosophy, University of Duisburg. The
Editorial Officer is Jo Ann Burgess.
