Jim:

I'm delighted to have been able to arrange for you to spend a few minutes trapped in an elevator at MIT. I'm sorry we were not able to control the selection of fellow passengers, but in such an elite crowd we're confident it was time well spent. The folks at Lord Corporation are proud to count you among their Symposium participants and are hopeful no permanent damage was done to your psyche.

My favorite time with you was in videotaping the interview for the PRC Forum series. We were trying to build interest in this Spartan form of "intellectual" TV and your willingness to participate added much to our credibility. For me personally it was a "first exposure" to public choice theory.

The most entertaining of the several discussions we've taped with you, was the discussion of the U.S. Constitution with Walter Williams. The combination of his snappy, satirical characterizations, and your lucid, historically rich exposition, is an unbeatable commentary on the "state of the nation."

Of course the historically most important effort we've collaborated on were the two hours of discussions we taped in 1978 between you and Friedrich von Hayek. In total we created over 16 hours of discussions with Hayek. A collection whose value is inestimable.

In every instance you have been extremely generous with your time and hospitality. It's an honor to be counted among your friends.

Warmest regards,

Bob Chitester
