Preserved in University Libraries' Special Collections & Archives,
George Mason University Archives comprises the official, permanent papers
and historical documents of the University. The University Archives not
only document the day-to-day workings of the University, but they provide
insight into Mason's growth from an eight-room elementary school campus
with seventeen students in 1957 to a multi-campus system with over 30,000
students.

This rich
collection of Mason's official history contains many University publications
and related materials such as: Mason Intercollegiate Athletics Press Guides;
Yearbooks -1965 to present; Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs - 1960
to present; Course Schedules - 1960 to present; news and scholarly periodicals
including Broadside, Phoebe, Mason Gazette,
and alumni publications; University Relations Press Releases; Mason Dissertations
and Theses - 1973 to present; Faculty Course Evaluation data; materials
relating to the history of the University; Faculty Senate Minutes; the
Legacy of George Mason Lecture Series; and George Mason University Papers
of the Presidents, just to name a few.
For additional information about GMU Archives, please refer to the Finding
Aid that is in SC&A's reading room or on the Web. SC&A staff is
always willing to assist researchers. SC&A's reading room provides
a quiet haven for serious research. Most materials may be photocopied,
either by the researcher or by staff, depending on the nature of the item.
Telephone or mail requests for photocopies and photographs are handled
for a fee on a prepaid basis.
