Offical Mason Web Sites
You can publish web pages that support your department or George Mason organization if it is an officially recognized university academic unit, administrative unit, student organization, auxiliary enterprise or an official affiliate of Mason. This page includes information on university-supported web servers (including supported software, eligibility, and other server specific information), how to add or update your website listing in Mason A-Z, and web development services and assistance. Request Space for Organizational Web Sites
To be recognized as an official organization, contact Student Activities to add your organization to their official list of organizations.The Mason Web resides on a Unix server. This server is available only for officially recognized university academic units, administrative units, student organizations, auxiliary enterprises, or official Mason affiliates. Updating Mason A-Z for Official Authorization
Mason A-Z is an alphabetical listing of all Official Mason web sites with brief descriptive text. It is maintained by the Mason webmaster. To update your Mason A-Z information, please send an e-mail to the Mason webmaster (webmaster@gmu.edu). In the e-mail, please state that you are requesting that your Mason A-Z information be updated. Also, give the name of your web site as it appears in Mason A-Z, and the new descriptive text.
Web Development Services and Assistance
Electronic Publications (EPUBS), a division of University Relations, is located in Mason Hall, Room D217. Electronic Publications has produced many university-critical websites such as Today@Mason, The Mason Gazette, the Viewfinder, CFA, the university catalog, the campus map, Arlington and Prince William campuses, and more. In addition, EPUBS serves as the design contact for Mason's official web sites regarding the use of logos, style guidelines, and photographic resources. New web development and design projects are limited; please contact the office at pkaul@gmu.edu for details.
Information Technology Unit (ITU) provides information on a variety of web-related topics. The Technical Info page, available in "Policies and Resources," provides Mason Account Activation information, Dial-In Instructions, and Keyword & Category searches of the Support Center Help Files.
Instructional Resource Center (IRC)
A division of DoIT, serves as a resource for faculty and staff seeking to improve instruction and provides hands on training/support in the use of technology for improving student learning.
Mason Media Lab
The Mason Media Lab is available to provide web site assistance with designs that utilizes Macromedia's Flash application, streaming media, and QuickTime VR. The Mason Media Lab is well equipped to take on the challenges of sophisticated web design and more. Student Technology Assistance and Resources Center (STAR)
Adivision of DoIT, is composed of 3 groups which focus on student support and assistance. STAR*T provides hands-on technology training for students (room 344 JC). Web.STAR helps student design and create Web sites (room 311 JC). STAR*S offers fee-based services (video and audio dubbing, editing services, scanning and color printing) to students, faculty, and staff (room 229 JC).
