Zukerman Featured at Benefit ConcertEugenia Zukerman, world-renowned flutist, is the special guest artist featured at the Department of Music's Fourth Annual Scholarship Benefit Concert. Held Sunday, April 30 at 7 p.m., the concert also features the George Mason University Symphony Orchestra and Choruses. Dennis Owens, of WGMS 103.5 FM, will host the concert, and all proceeds will fund scholarships for George Mason music students. Praised as one of the finest flutists of our time, distinguished concert and recording artist Eugenia Zukerman is internationally known for her elegant sound, artistic phrasing, brilliant agility, and graceful stage presence. She has performed in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, appearing as a soloist with the English Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, and the National Symphony. The program includes the world premiere performance of "Beyond Sight," commissioned by the College of Arts and Sciences and written by internationally known composer Dan Welcher.
