Slatkin Returns for Scholarship Concert

National Symphony Orchestra conductor Leonard Slatkin returns to George Mason
University as the guest conductor during the Department of Music's sixth annual
Music Scholarship Concert. The concert, which will be held on Sunday, April 21,
at 7 p.m. in the Concert Hall, also features the George Mason University Symphony
Orchestra and Choruses and performances by music faculty members Kathryn Hearden,
soprano; Patricia Miller, mezzo-soprano; and Steven Rainbolt, baritone.
The program includes the Academic Festival Overture by Johannes Brahms;
Gabriel Faure's Requiem, and "Carry the Flame," the 2002 Winter Olympics
torch relay song, composed by music graduate student Karin Hendrickson.
All proceeds from the concert will fund scholarships for George Mason music
students. Tickets are $15; $8 for students and seniors. For ticket information,
