Alumni Read from Their Work
By Hope J Smith In addition to the five writers visiting campus this semester, two George Mason alumni are reading from their work. The readings, organized in part through the Graduate Creative Writing Chapter of the Alumni Association and through the Creative Writing Program, underscore the accomplishments of Mason alumni in creative writing. The reading takes place on the lower level of the University Bookstore at 8 p.m. |

On Wednesday, April 22, poet Juanita Brunk and novelist Stephen Stark read from their work. Brunk (M.F.A., 1985) received the Great Lakes Poetry Award and the Brittingham Prize of the University of Wisconsin for her collection of poems, Brief Landing on the Earth's Surface. She was the first recipient of the Creative Writing Fellowship at the Institute of Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She also has been a Pushcart Prize nominee.
Stark (B.A., 1982) received his M.F.A. from Hollins College and has published two novels, The Outsk irts and Second Son, now available in paperback. He has taught in the creative writing program at the University of Houston. All readings are free and open to the public. For more information, call the English Department at x31160. |
