IT&E Honors Outstanding Alumni
On April 17, the School of Information Technology and Engineering (IT&E) honors two of its graduates with awards for their outstanding achievements. At the school's inaugural Alumni Awards Luncheon, Timothy Cannon and Julie Holdren receive the first of a series of awards to be given each year. Cannon, who received his Ph.D. in Information Technology in 1988, is the recipient of the 1998 Management Achievement Award. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of technical management. Cannon manages the Microsoft Alliance Group within Digital's Service Division in Florida and has overseen a growth from less than $400 million in 1996 to more than $800 million in 1998. |

Holdren earned her B.S. in Computer Science in 1994 and will receive the Entrepreneurial Achievement Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in the organization and management of a new business or enterprise. Holdren is the founder, president, and CEO of Olympus Group, Inc., located in Alexandria, Va. The company, which specializes in web design, da
tabase integration, and decision support applications, saw 1997 revenues of $3 million after only three years in business.
The luncheon is open to the public and is held in the Johnson Center Multipurpose Room from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Reservations are required. The cost is $35 for individuals or $300 for a corporate table, which seats eight. For more information, contact Gina Dreistadt at x31500. |
